Learn the basics of sewing with knit fabrics on a serger. Two-night class!
The first class is on Tuesday July 21st and the second on Wednesday July 22nd.
We will use both the serger and sewing machine.
Skills you’ll learn:
- working with knits
- sewing from a pattern
- using a serger
- attaching knit bands
- installing elastic
- zig-zag stitch
- (optional) elastic ruching
What you’ll take home after course completion: 2 panties, 1 reversible bralette
Dates/times: 2-day course – Tuesday July 21 6-9pm AND Wednesday July 22 6-9 pm
Supply list:
- Student supplies: 2.5yd knit fabric with 50% 4-way stretch and good recovery (1.25yd main, 1.25yd coordinate); cotton/spandex recommended, but other spandex blends work well too. Winter Solstice has kits of fabric ready to purchase.

- Instructor provides bra band elastic and clear elastic

Prerequisites: some sewing knowledge/experience preferred (you have used a sewing machine before); ideal for any level sewist who is wanting to work with stretch fabrics and elastic; can be brand new to working on a serger!
