Who Are We?

Hi, I’m Marnie! Originally hailing from Maine, I made my way to Alaska 24 years ago and never looked back. I’m a proud mom to an amazing son and a lifelong enthusiast of sewing and crafting. My journey has been filled with needles, threads, and fabrics—and a big dream to share my passion with fellow creators.
When Joann’s announced its closure, I knew Alaska’s crafting community needed a hands-on haven to find supplies and nurture creativity. After over a year of planning, my vision for a dedicated crafting store in Anchorage is finally taking shape.
Crafting has been my lifelong passion, from fun garments, intricate cross-stitching to elaborate quilts. Living in Alaska, I know how challenging it can be to find the right materials, but that hasn’t stopped me! My goal is to empower crafters across Alaska with everything they need to bring their creations to life.
Winter Solstice Sewing & Crafts is more than a store—it’s a community. A place where crafters can gather, learn, and share their love of creating. I can’t wait to welcome you to our space and help you discover the joy of crafting!
Meet the Yarn Goddess
Hi! I’m Camilla, and I am looking forward to sharing the craft of knitting and crocheting with you at Winter Solstice! Creativity is a big part of who I am. I’m an avid knitter and crocheter, and I’m always on the lookout for new crafty skills to learn. Whether it’s fiber arts, sewing, or something totally out of the box, I love finding new ways to get creative and share that joy with others.
I am originally from Spokane, Washington. I moved here in the summer of 2022, so I still have a lot to explore in Alaska! I currently work at Rabbit Creek Elementary School as a Life Skills teacher.
I’m so happy to be part of both the Winter Solstice and Rabbit Creek communities, and I can’t wait for another year full of learning, creativity, and fun!
