DESCRIPTION:Learn the basics of sewing on a serger. We will play with various stitch lengths and\ndifferential settings. We will also walk through making a scrunchie on your serger so you can\nmarvel at your completed project at the end of class!\nSkills you’ll learn: \n● Using a serger\n● How to thread your serger\n● Finishing thread tails\n● Make a scrunchie \nPrerequisites: some sewing knowledge/experience preferred (ideally used a sewing\nmachine before even if a beginners); ideal for any level sewist who is wanting to get more\ncomfortable working on a serger; can be brand new to working on a serger\, or someone who is\ncomfortable but wants to explore other settings on their machine. \nSupply list: \nSerger/manual\, along with toolkit for threading\n(tweezers\, screwdriver/hexkey for changing needles) \nVariety of fabric scraps to practice stitch settings (min size 7”x7” squares); bring a\nmix of woven and knit\, and different weights too! \n4”x18” fabric strip for scrunchie creation \nThread/serger cones \n9” piece of 1⁄4-3⁄8” wide elastic \nTools/Supplies \nsoft measuring tape\, sewing clips/pins\, scissors/rotary cutter\, ruler \nRecommended to bring notebook + pen for noting stitch settings
